In our view, the Engine Skid Plate and Rear Differential Skid Plate are the highest priorities, followed closely by the Transmission Skid Plate. While the transmission does not hang as low as the engine and is therefore somewhat more protected, it is particularly vulnerable during breakover situations.

Because the transmission is located near the center of the vehicle, it can be exposed when cresting a hill, crossing a berm, or navigating uneven terrain. In these scenarios, the middle of the vehicle can contact obstacles even when the front and rear clear them successfully.
